He is a 3rd generation minister, has a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Education and has served for a number of years as a High School counselor as well as Youth Pastor. He has served churches as a pastor or youth minister in Rochester, New York, Burlington, Vermont, Natchez, Mississippi, Birmingham, Alabama and Lancaster, South Carolina.
Jim, and his wife Heather and their daughter Haley, reside in Fort Mill, South Carolina and have another daughter, Cassie, who is attending college in Tennessee, and a son and daughter-in-law (Jonathan and Wynter) who also reside in Tennessee where he serves as Youth Pastor.
Jim enjoys kayaking, hiking, camping and playing the guitar. Along with reading and working on sermons, he also likes to blog (Manifestations of a Tethered Soul - http://parishthethought.blogspot.com).
Jim’s approach to ministry is based upon two foundational passages of scripture. The first is called the Great Commandment where Jesus says:
“…‘The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” (Matthew 22:37-40, NLT)
The second is called the Great Commission where Jesus tells his followers:
“…Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, NLT)
If you are hungry to be a part of a group of people who are striving to know what it means to love God, to love self, and to love others in a way that will glorify God, then we invite you to come and be a part of the Good Samaritan family.
